BRUSHY CREEK HISTORY ...
This year (2014) it will be 20 years since Les retired from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, but it was 1991 when he first made wine from grapes grown in local Texas soil. We are including some pictures of the early days to reflect on how we have grown. Next month we will give you a gimpse of the future.
This is a picture from 2000 before the winery was licensed. Les, Howard Davies, and Rob Clinesmith are pressing grapes and in 2014 ... they are all still working together to make great wine.
(below) This is the same Merlot being processed through our crusher stemmer and the basket presses. This is Patrick Davies, a well known winemaker in California now, running the 'stemmer'. 'We' wish he would bring his talent back to the Texas Wine Industry soon. This picture was taken on our deck in front of the Tasting Room before we had our 'Brushy Creek' sign up.
This is the first time we used our then "New Basket Press" in 2001. This is the 'cake' from our estate Merlot that was grown here at Brushy Creek.
Owl's Nest Update2013-02-23 14:15:24
Come be "charmed" by the "ambience" of the transformation of the The Owl's Nest Event Center... doors, new round tables, tablecloths, granite serving bar, heaters, and more outside barrels with seating. It is now available for private events. Come visit and see our progress.
2012-04-17 14:50:14 The Owls Nest is ready for our customers... Come get a glass (or bottle) of wine and some snacks, relax and experience the tranquill outdoors and view the sunset from the balcony deck. FYI... We are now selling snacks (ie. assorted cheeses, crackers, nuts, chocolate) in the Tasting Room for your convenience.
2011-11-13 15:42:28 LOOK FOR ME, written by Wine Club member Janet Shawgo has personally autographed some books that are available for purchase in the Tasting Room. This book has won 5 awards. Her second book WAIT FOR ME has just been released. It is also for sale in the Tasting Room.
